AC Shadows Introduces Surprising Attack on Titan Event for Holiday Season
In a surprising partnership that defies conventional predictions, the game developer has unveiled an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual Thanksgiving event runs from November 25 through December 22, including complimentary additional story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Mission Revealed
According to the formal announcement, "An unusual meeting pulls protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a original quest, where hints of forbidden practices and monstrous transformations reverberate through the darkness." The storyline presents a "oddly attired woman named Ada" who tasks the pair with traveling into the Gemstone Grotto—a key location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her companion from a hidden cult.
The adventure centers on "bizarre experiments and a terrifying foe" and is open to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.
Iconic Settings and Transformations
The trailer highlights the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This important location was previously where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The teaser finishes with a dramatic moment showing a character, probably the prisoner, morphing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Rewards and Additional Material
Players who accomplish the adventure will obtain an special katana together with multiple objects hidden throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also includes premium Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-inspired outfit for Yasuke
- Mikasa outfit for Naoe
- Special implements
- Survey Corps steed
Latest Free Story Update
This patch also brings the game's newest free story addition, titled "The Enigma." This playful mission pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they trade characteristic abilities: Naoe introduces a performative interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-lethal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "The Mystery" also includes a new environmental puzzle that may eventually explain some lingering questions from the main storyline.
