Per new allegations from a whistleblower, Ghislaine Maxwell, currently serving a 20-year prison term for sex-trafficking crimes, is allegedly readying a clemency request for consideration by the presidential administration.

Preferential Handling Claimed at Federal Prison

House Democrats on the judicial oversight panel revealed that a source provided information indicating the inmate is working on the commutation application. They also stated she has been receiving special treatment at the federal prison camp in Texas.

Representative Jamie Raskin, the ranking member on the House judiciary committee, declared in a official statement that the facility's chief was assisting Maxwell with copying, printing, and sending documents to support her bid for executive mercy.

Specific details of the “commutation application” are unclear, the congressman noted.

Claimed Perks and Special Accommodations

The representative claims that, per the insider, the prisoner has been receiving “customized” meals that are “personally delivered” to her cell, and the supervisor has “personally arranged” private meetings for Maxwell and her visitors.

The visits reportedly involve a designated private space for visitors and “an assortment of snacks and refreshments” for her guests.

Those visiting Maxwell were also reportedly permitted to bring computers, which the congressman characterized as an “unprecedented action” given the potential danger and potential for unmonitored communications.

Reportedly on one occasion, when communications failed for other prisoners, she was provided directions about who she should tell her associates to call and how personnel would connect the communication to her.

Warden as “Personal Secretary”

The whistleblower further reportedly told congressional members that when the convict wanted to review and edit documents “quickly”, she reportedly employed the warden as her private aide.

The statement indicates that those writing to her would send files directly to the warden, who would hand them over to Maxwell, who would review and edit them and provide them back to the official to scan and provide to the original sender.

Extra Benefits Reported

Other privileges reportedly provided to her include time to “play with” a trainee assistance dog – a perk typically prohibited – as well as exclusive nighttime use to the facility's gym.

Her legal counsel has not yet replied to a request for comment regarding the insider's allegations.

Through a spokesperson, the White House said that it “will not discuss” on potential clemency requests.

“Per the President's remarks, granting clemency to Ghislaine Maxwell is not something he has thought about,” the representative noted.

Context and Developments

Over the weekend, it was reported that Maxwell told friends and family in emails from prison that she was more content at the Texas facility than her former location.

In August, Maxwell was transferred from a secure facility in Tallahassee, Florida to the less restrictive prison in Texas, where most inmates are serving time for non-violent offenses and white-collar crimes.

The transfer, which authorities called as exceptional, occurred just days after she was questioned about the Jeffrey Epstein investigation by the senior justice official, Todd Blanche, who also once acted as Donald Trump's personal lawyer.

This questioning came as the Trump administration was facing mounting pressure to disclose additional files related to the ongoing probe and amid intense speculation around Trump's own connections to the fallen billionaire and convicted sex offender, who was found deceased in custody in 2019 while awaiting prosecution on sex-trafficking charges.

Congressional Response

Through the statement, the congressman also announced that he had dispatched a communication to Trump, requesting explanations about the whistleblower’s allegations, and called on the president to deny Maxwell’s commutation request.

“You should not grant any form of clemency to this convicted and unrepentant criminal,” Raskin wrote in the letter. “The government must not offer her with room service, with canine interaction, with federal law enforcement officials attending to her requests, or with any special treatment or institutional privilege at all.”

The congressman asked that the official attend a public congressional hearing to discuss the revelations and also presented several inquiries to the President.

He inquired whether Trump had discussed a possible clemency for Maxwell with the official or others, whether he had directed Blanche or anyone else to provide Maxwell with the move or favorable and preferential treatment in prison, and whether she, her attorneys, family or representatives have made any promises to Trump or his legal team.

Raskin has asked for a response to the inquiries by 24 November.

In October, the nation's highest court declined to hear an petition from Maxwell on her sex-trafficking conviction.
