Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice
The British driver has beaten his teammate at each of the previous five race weekends.
The McLaren driver edged out team-mate and title rival the Australian for the fastest time in the dying seconds of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who seized the points lead from Piastri by a single point after his victory in the Mexican Grand Prix two weeks ago, outpaced the Melbourne-born driver by 0.023 seconds.
Until that point, Oscar Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver throughout the hour before sprint qualifying set to begin at 6:30 PM GMT.
Max Verstappen, the sole remaining contender in the points battle, lying 36 points Norris, ended up in 17th position as his team followed a alternative strategy.
Verstappen's team-mate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to have an incident, though minor, when he spun at the fourth corner early in the session.
The Japanese slid over the track edges before sliding over the run-off area, and was blessed to avoid just a minor contact of the wall.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also spun, at the very end of the practice, spinning around through the fast downhill Mergulho turn before the final corner on to the main straight.
The seven-time champion finished practice in 19th, trailing teammate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were well clear of the remaining drivers, with the German's car third fastest, over half a second off Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was in fourth, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto in front of the Mercedes of Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
